Hello my names is Cole Cooper and I attend Georgia Southern University. I am looking to get connected with people who have the same interest in Hunting and Off-Roading as I do. I would prefer to get to know all of my followers and it would be great if they would send me a brief introduction of themselves. Also my followers should somehow show me how show me how they are connected to my interests. I usually tend to evaluate each of my followers to make sure they are the kind of person that I actually want to connect with. If the contact has little to no value to me then I may request that he or she no longer follows me. I would prefer that the people who are connected to me are conscientious about giving out personal information about me or my family. I also become a little annoyed of people who update their status’s about everything they do because I feel like some people do not enjoy getting a “play by play” of the lives of the people they are connected too. I use Facebook differently from Twitter because my Twitter account just updates people about what I am up too and I use Facebook to get connected with old friends and see my friends pictures. I can even talk to my friends easier on Facebook. I look forward to getting connecting to many people who have share the same interests as me. I hope that everyone will look at my social media policy and keep it in mind when they socially connect with me.
Class at Southern Adventure’s Ropes Course
Posted in Uncategorized with tags ropes course, southern adventures on November 18, 2008 by colecoop56On Monday November 17, 2008 our Facebook and Beyond class took a trip to the RAC and had the chance to perticapate in Southern Adventures low ropes courses. I was fully prepared of what we where going to be asked to do because I went on a field trip in middle school where we did the same thing. I personally learned during the ropes course that I am not as strong when I am by myself rather than being with a big group that together can accomplish many challenging courses. I felt that these are great activities that promoted our class to work together and get to know each other a little better. I also realized that I had a lot more in common with the many students in my Facebook and Beyond class than I originally thought. I feel that the experiences that we had while at Southern Adventures goes hand and hand with the theme of our Making Connections Class because it truelly helped me make better connections with my classmates. After talking with one of my friends who is another classmate and he felt the exact same way as I do about the connections that we made with other students. We also wished that we could have done the ropes courses in the beginning of the semester because it would have helped us become better friends with the rest of the class. I feel that I can take what I learned at Southern Adventures into my career in business because I can help promote working together to achieve a goal rather than just allowing every employee to do their own thing.
Podcast Reviews
Posted in Uncategorized with tags The Onion Movie, Flight of the Conchords, Funny Podcast on October 29, 2008 by colecoop56The two podcasts that i decided to listen to are The Onion Radio News and The Flight of the Conchords. The Onion Radio News is comedic news podcast about issues in today’s world that make me laugh every time I play it. I really enjoy the comedy and I feel that it is funny to hear about some issues that people would think as normal as drastic jokes. The first time I have ever heard of Onion Radio News was in a preview for the movie the Comebacks. My friends and I where waiting for the movie to start and this hilarious preview for The Onion Movie played. I knew after watching this preview that I would enjoy listening to their hilarious news skits. The second podcast I decided to listen to is the Flight of the Conchords. The Flight of the Conchords is normally a TV show on HBO, but they started making the show into a podcast also this past year. The show is about two guys that came from New Zealand to try to write and perform music. Their music is extremely funny and I even have some on my Ipod. Their podcast are great to listen too because they tell how they made their show and how they can come up with funny music consistently like they do. Some of their new podcast are even some music videos that they just came out with. I personally recommend both podcast that I listened too for people who love listening to comedy skits or music that has good beat, but will still make u laugh in the end.
Two Blogs that I have Great Interest In!
Posted in Uncategorized with tags deer baiting, hunting, off roading on October 15, 2008 by colecoop56The first blog that I researched and decided to discuss is Deer Baiting Across the U.S. by Mike Adams. In Mike’s blog he decides to discuss how in certain states of the U.S. placing food or deer attractants is illegal before going out and trying to hunt them. He hunts in Michigan and is allowed to place corn out before he hunts, but he was surprised to find out that or 56% of the states do not allow this practice. The conflict about this issue is that many people feel that it is unsportsmanlike to attract an animal from his home so that you can shoot it. All of the people that appose baiting feel that it is not only unethical, but it is unfair for an animal to be misled into being shot rather than making the hunter use skill to make a kill. I personally feel that Deer baiting should be legal in some instances because many deer will not come out of their bedding areas unless they have food to eat.
The second blog that I decided to write about is Top SUV’s for Off Roading by Justin. In his blog, he states his opinion on the two best all around SUV’s for off roading. The two vehicles that he focuses on is the Land Rover LR3 and the well known Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. One of the key factors that he suggests is that the ground clearance for both vehicles are about nine inches. This is an impressive number since most SUV’s have a ground clearance way below eight inces. I personally feel that the better vehicle to use when off roading is the Jeep because of its strong drive train and comfortable suspension that is designed for rock climbing, trail riding, and also a comfortable street ride. Not only is the price tag for the Jeep wrangler much cheaper, the owner would feel much better about getting it muddy than an expensive Land Rover.
Success Series Presentation
Posted in Uncategorized on September 17, 2008 by colecoop56I attended the Success Series last night with my two friends just hoping that I could do something to keep myself entertained for an hour. I thought that this would be just another presentation that would make the audience loose interest and count down the minutes until we are released. After I listened to the first few minutes I realized that my my opinion was pre-mature and wrong. Not only did the speaker do a good job of entertaining us, he also made very valid points. I feel that if the audience really practiced the steps that he explained to us, that we could all be richer one day. I also was really surprised to hear that he simply drives a Buick saber. I really admired how humble he was at all times and even though he could afford a nicer car, he simply would rather save his money and use it on something that will continue to make him happy in the years to come. Another thing that shocked me is that he is still single. I would’ve thought that a man of his age and status would at least being dating someone. Finally I was flabbergasted when I heard that signing up for a credit card even though u don’t use it will cost you money in the long run. A person could hurt their credit score without even knowing it because of how many little things are added up to calculate it. I will be using some of the practices that the speaker suggested in the years to come.
My Tweeter Experience.
Posted in Uncategorized on September 15, 2008 by colecoop56The tweeter project that my class and I was asked to do for a 48 hour period turned out to be interested but fun in the same time. It reminded me a lot like Facebook in which I already do not use the status update a lot. This made me think about using it more and also I enjoyed seeing all the friends that I “follow” update their tweets. The only thing is that sometimes I personally feel awkward about leaving updated status’s. For some reason it feels weird updating what I am doing at all times. I will admit that it was grueling at times to remember to get on twitter and write my status since it is so natural for me to log onto Facebook and look at status’s and my friends pictures. I will say that the Twitter website could be very useful in the business world. First of all it could possibly help someone find a job because a boss could look at a person’s twitter account and see what they are like. Second i feel like it could be extremely easy for a people who are working at a certain job to be able and talk quickly and then relate a message that needs to get sent across the office or even across the country. I am debating if I still want to continue using Twitter on the account of I barely have enough time to check my Facebook a lot much less get on and leave Tweets.
